Chandigarh, March 7 -- The mortal remains of Squadron Leader Anuj Sharma arrived at his native village, Kakrana, in Rohtak district on Saturday. He died following a Sukhoi fighter jet crash in Assam two days back.

The last rites of the Air Force officer are scheduled to be performed with full state honours in his ancestral village.

Born on August 9, 1993, in Kakrana, Anuj Sharma moved to Gurugram with his family at age 7 and completed his education there.

Known for his academic excellence, he was selected for the Indian Air Force in 2015. Following the completion of his training in 2016, he received a grand welcome from the residents of his native village.
