Patna, Sept. 1 -- Applications received from political parties for deletion of names from electoral rolls are four times more than those for addition in the voter list, the Election Commission said today.

After the first phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the draft voters' list was published by the EC on August 1.

Political parties had alleged large-scale irregularities in the scratching of names of 65 lakh voters from electoral rolls, saying names of genuine electors were removed. They had approached the Supreme Court for redressal of their grievances over the alleged irregularities.
