Aizawl, May 26 -- The monsoon has officially set in Mizoram and parts of northeast India, with moderate to heavy rainfall drenching the state since Saturday. Sudheer Kumar Dwivedi, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Aizawl, confirmed this as part of an early onset of the monsoon across India.

Dwivedi noted that Mizoram's capital, Aizawl, along with several other parts of the state and neighbouring northeastern states, can expect more showers in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) marked the onset of the four-month rainy season with a notable announcement: for the first time, the monsoon has set in simultaneously over Kerala and northeast India.
