Shimla/Dharamshala, Sept. 4 -- Tibetan refugee settlements and colonies in Himachal Pradesh, a north-western Himalayan state of India, have been battered by weeks of torrential monsoon rains that unleashed flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts since July.

From Mcleodganj, the heart of the Tibetan exile community to Kullu's river valleys and Kasumpti near Shimla, monasteries, dormitories, and households have sustained extensive destruction.

According to a report issued by the Home Department of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), at least half a dozen monasteries and residential quarters across the state were pounded by rain and floodwaters.
