Pune, May 1 -- : Even as several weather experts have warned that the growing impact of El Niño could affect this year's monsoon season, former agro-meteorologist of Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Dr. Ramchandra Sable, has expressed optimism that the monsoon is likely to arrive in Maharashtra on time, and may even advance slightly ahead of schedule.
According to Dr. Sable, the southwest monsoon is expected to reach the Andaman region nearly three days earlier than usual. Its arrival over Kerala is also likely to occur two to three days ahead of schedule. Subsequently, Goa and Maharashtra may witness the onset of monsoon around June 2 or 3, nearly two days earlier than the normal timeline.
