Aizawl, June 4 -- As monsoon rains finally abated in Mizoram by Tuesday afternoon, a clearer picture has emerged of the destruction left in their wake.
While no additional human casualties have been reported since Saturday, damage assessments
from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) under the disaster management and rehabilitation department reveal widespread devastation across the state.
With the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) state centre forecasting drier conditions ahead, schools resumed on Wednesday after a four-day precautionary closure. However, the state continues to grapple with the aftermath of a week-long deluge that triggered hundreds of landslides, roadblocks, and widespread infrastructural collapse.
