Shimla, June 20 -- The southwest Monsoon set in over Himachal Pradesh on Friday, marking an early onset over parts of the state, including Shimla city. The arrival comes a week earlier than the previous year, when the monsoon reached on June 27.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that monsoon conditions are favourable for its further advancement into remaining parts of Himachal, Punjab, and Haryana in the next 2-3 days.

Following the monsoon's entry, several parts of the state witnessed light to moderate rain. Nahan received 9 cm, Pandoh and Bijahi 3 cm each, and Pachhad and Rampur Bushahr recorded 2 cm. Gusty winds were also reported from Bajaura (37 km/h), and thunderstorms affected Sundernagar, Shimla, and Kangra.
