Mumbai, Sept. 17 -- The Chembur-to-Jacob Circle monorail service, frequently in the news in recent years for technical glitches and other issues, is set to be suspended for two months.
Starting this Saturday, September 20, the monorail will be closed for a few days.
The monorail, launched in 2014 for Mumbaikars, failed to attract a steady stream of passengers and soon began running at a loss. In recent years, recurring technical problems have caused significant inconvenience to commuters.
Just a few days ago, during heavy rainfall, the monorail broke down between two stations. The fire brigade had to use ladders to rescue 588 stranded passengers, an incident that raised serious safety concerns.
