Gondia, Nov. 16 -- Former union Minister and NCP national working president Praful Patel sparked a political controversy on Sunday after claiming that money is distributed during elections.

Speaking at a public event in Gondia, Patel acknowledged that such practices occur but added that financial inducements do not necessarily determine how people vote.

"Even after taking money, voters cast their votes for whoever they wish," Patel remarked.

The former union minister also cautioned party leaders against projecting themselves as strongmen.

"No one should think of themselves as a 'bahubali'. In the past, we have elected many such figures," he remarked.
