Nagpur, March 13 -- In a significant healthcare initiative, patients from mining areas will now be able to undergo knee replacement surgeries free of cost through a joint effort between Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMC), a press release said on Friday.

The programme has been launched on the initiative of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with the objective of extending specialised medical treatment to people residing in mining belts.

Under the scheme, individuals suffering from serious knee-related ailments in mining regions will be provided free knee replacement procedures, a treatment that is otherwise expensive and often beyond the reach of economically weaker sections....
