Kolkata, Sept. 27 -- One of the "big three" of Kolkata, Mohammedan Sporting Club, has decided not to field its squad for the upcoming IFA Shield football tournament, scheduled to be held from October 8, as the players are on holiday after a rigorous Calcutta Football League campaign, club officials said.

The Indian Football Association (IFA) has decided to host the IFA Shield from October 8, nearly four years after the tournament was last held. Mohammedan Sporting, winner of the 2014 edition, said the majority of its players are currently holidaying in different states and countries and will not be able to return to Kolkata in time, according to club president Md Amiruddin.
