Kolkata, April 9 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sharpening his attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Asansol on Thursday, declared that a "new era" would begin in West Bengal after May 4, when the results of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 are announced.

Taking forward his campaign from Haldia, Modi stepped up his attack in the industrial town of Asansol, saying, "After May 4, a new chapter will begin in Bengal. A TMC-free Bengal will show a new direction of development."The Prime Minister accused the ruling party of fostering a "mafia raj," particularly highlighting the alleged dominance of coal and sand mafias in the region.
