Kolkata, Aug. 22 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing the Mamata Banerjee-led government of turning Bengal into a hub of "crime and corruption" and blocking its development and asserted that the state would witness real progress only after the BJP is voted to power.
Speaking at a rally in Dum Dum jail ground in Kolkata, Modi recalled the slogan of "Ma, Mati, Manush" that brought TMC to power 15 years ago, but said the promise of change had failed.
"Crime and corruption have become the identity of the TMC government. So long as TMC remains in power, Bengal's development will be thwarted. Real development will come only after TMC is removed," he declared.
