Aizawl, Sept. 13 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing it of pursuing vote-bank politics that left the North East, including Mizoram, lagging in development for decades.
Virtually inaugurating the Bairabi-Sairang railway line from Lengpui airport after bad weather grounded his helicopter, Modi said that for years certain parties had focused only on regions with more votes and seats. "Because of this attitude, the entire North East suffered greatly," he said.
