Himachal, Dec. 5 -- Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized the importance of balanced modernization, stating that while progress is essential in the present era, excess in any form must be avoided.
He said that uncontrolled modernization can distance society from its cultural and natural identity.
"We should certainly welcome modernity, but it must be adopted in a way that preserves our inherent character and natural growth," he remarked.
The Governor was addressing the Annual Prize Distribution Function of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (R.K.M.V.), Shimla, on Friday.
