Mumbai, Jan. 27 -- Forest department officials were allegedly attacked by a mob during an awareness campaign linked to the removal of encroachments inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai on January 26, with stones hurled at officials and a government vehicle damaged, prompting police action. A case has been registered against 25 to 30 men and women under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, an official said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the incident took place in the Borivali East area when forest officials were conducting a peaceful awareness drive to inform residents about a proposed anti-encroachment operation following a High Court order.
