Chandrapur, Oct. 1 -- Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) state vice-president Raju Umbarkar has been booked for allegedly demanding a commission of Rs 9.5 crore from a contractor executing works in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, police said today.

Police said complainant Yogesh Mamidwar, a contractor from Chandrapur, alleged that Umbarkar and his associates visited his work site in Wani on September 17, threatened employees and assaulted some staffers.

The next day, Mamidwar visited Umbarkar's residence where the accused allegedly demanded four per cent commission, amounting to Rs 9.5 crore from the project.
