Lucknow, June 1 -- Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA from Mau Sadar seat Abbas Ansari on Sunday was disqualified from the membership of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly after his conviction for two years in a hate speech case.

A notification has been issued by the Principal Secretary Vidhan Sabha Pradeep Dubey in this regard. As per the notification Abbas will be considered disqualified from May 31 and the Mau Sadar seat has been declared vacant.

Abbas is son of mafia Mukhtar Ansari and won Mau seat in 2022 polls when SBSP contested in alliance with Samajwadi Party (SP).
