Aizawl, March 12 -- The Mizoram government is gearing up to roll out a Universal Healthcare Scheme (UHS) from April 1, aiming to provide cashless medical treatment to all residents.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma, addressing the assembly during the budget discussion's conclusion on Tuesday evening, reiterated his government's commitment to strengthening healthcare accessibility and quality.
The UHS will upgrade all government health facilities, from primary health centres to major hospitals, and will include the recruitment of additional doctors and nurses to meet growing demands. However, a key challenge remains unresolved-private hospitals have yet to agree on their participation in the scheme due to financial concerns.
