Aizawl, Feb. 28 -- Drug trafficking through Myanmar into Mizoram has escalated dramatically over the past two years, with enforcement agencies recording a surge in narcotics seizures, officials reported on Friday.

According to law enforcement data, Mizoram Police intercepted 154.172 kilogrammes of methamphetamine in 2023, but that figure shot up to 627.741 kilogrammes in 2024. Similarly, heroin seizures rose from 68.055 kilogrammes in 2023 to 80.814 kilogrammes last year, highlighting an alarming trend.
