Aizawl, March 7 -- The Mizoram government has approached the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to seek approval for a transition to rigid concrete pavement-commonly known as pre-stressed or bituminous concrete-for road and highway construction across the state.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma, while responding to a discussion on public works department (PWD) initiatives during question hour on Thursday, said that although the adoption of rigid concrete pavement would be costlier, it aligns better with Mizoram's terrain and soil conditions, ensuring greater durability.
