Aizawl, Dec. 4 -- Lunglei district in Mizoram has been awarded the National Award 2025 in the Best District category for its work in implementing the Accessible India Campaign and promoting a barrier-free environment.
The award was conferred by President Droupadi Murmu during the observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Wednesday and received on behalf of the district by Deputy Commissioner Navneet Mann.
According to officials, Lunglei district has emerged as a national model for accessibility and inclusion through its flagship initiative "Project LEAP" (Lunglei's Empowerment for Access and Equity for All Persons), launched under the leadership of the DC.
