Aizawl, Dec. 3 -- Voting for the 25-seat Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) concluded peacefully on Wednesday with over 80 per cent turnout recorded till 4 p.m., election officials said.

Several voters were still inside polling stations after the deadline, and the final polling percentage is expected to change once all votes are accounted for. No untoward incidents were reported across the council area.

A total of 80 candidates are in the fray for the council, which has 56,873 registered voters - 27,854 men and 29,019 women. Sakeilui constituency has the highest number of electorsat 3,993, while Cheural, with 1,381 voters, has the lowest.
