Aizawl, Dec. 1 -- Mizoram recorded 3,117 new HIV infections between April 2024 and October 2025, according to fresh data presented on World AIDS Day here on Monday, underscoring the continuing severity of the epidemic in a state that already bears the country's highest prevalence rate.

The figures were released during the state-level observance at Vanapa Hall, where MSACS Project Director Dr. Jane R. Ralte reported that the state has now documented 33,641 HIV cases since 1990. Of the newly infected during the 19-month period, 2,039 were men, 1,078 women and 167 pregnant women.
