Aizawl, Feb. 26 -- Mizoram has recorded the lowest infant mortality rate in India, with just 3 deaths per 1,000 live births, NITI Aayog member Dr. Vinod K Paul said on Wednesday.

He lauded the state's Health & Family Welfare Department for its efforts in achieving this milestone.

Dr. Paul, along with a team of NITI Aayog officials, visited Zoram Medical College & Hospital (ZMCH) in Falkawn today afternoon. The delegation included Anna Roy, Principal Economic Adviser and Mission Director of the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), and other key officials from the policy think tank. They were received by Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii, alongside senior officials from the Health & Family Welfare and Planning Departments.
