Aizawl, Jan. 12 -- Mizoram reported 145 deaths among tuberculosis (TB) patients in 2025, even as health authorities said the state achieved an 84 per cent cure rate among those diagnosed during the year.

Officials of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), operating under the state National Health Mission, said a total of 2,275 TB cases were detected across Mizoram in 2025. Of these, 267 patients were co-infected with HIV, while 146 were identified as suffering from multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), highlighting the continuing public health challenge posed by the disease.
