Thenzawl, Sept. 1 -- Chief Minister Lalduhoma today called for transforming Mithun farming into a pillar of Mizoram's rural economy, as the state hosted the 3rd Mithun Day and National Seminar on Integrated Mithun Farming at Thenzawl Auditorium.

Highlighting that Mizoram spends nearly Rs 630 crore annually on meat, including imports worthRs 40 crore, the Chief Minister said achieving self-sufficiency in livestock production was critical.

He noted that Mithun, long regarded as part of the socio-economic fabric of the North East, offered untapped potential for entrepreneurship and market linkages beyond subsistence rearing.
