Aizawl, Feb. 11 -- The Mizoram Lokayukta has registered eight corruption-related cases, all of which were recommended for preliminary inquiry, with reports on seven cases received so far, according to its latest annual report submitted to Governor Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh on Tuesday.

Lokayukta Chairman Lalmalsawma handed over the fifth annual report for 2023-2024 at Raj Bhavan. Covering the period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, the report is set to be tabled in the upcoming budget session of the state legislative assembly, beginning on February 19.

Since its establishment in March 2019, the Lokayukta has recorded 71 cases, ordering preliminary inquiries into 46. It has held 38 case hearings, resulting in four convictions, one acquit...
