Aizawl, Dec. 7 -- Mizoram's ongoing biometric enrollment of refugees from neighbouring Myanmar and Bangladesh has crossed key milestones this week, with officials reporting that nearly two-thirds of Myanmar nationals sheltering in the state have now been registered.
As of Saturday, 65.82 per cent of the 30,893 Myanmar refugees currently in Mizoram have been enrolled on the Foreigners Identification Portal.
The overall refugee population shows only a marginal dip from last week's count of 30,908, though officials are yet to include 49 newly-arrived individuals from 'K' Haimual village in Tedim township, who fled intensified fighting ahead of Myanmar's December 28 elections.
