Aizawl, Sept. 3 -- The Joint Civil Society of Mizoram (JCSM) and Zo Re-unification Organisation (ZORO) have urged the state government to convene a special session of theAssembly to reconsider the resolution adopted on August 27 extending the ForestConservation (Amendment) Act, 2023 (FCAA) to Mizoram.
JCSM, a coalition of organisations including Mizoram Transformation Movement (MTM),Centre for Environment & Social Justice (CESJ), Mizoram First (MF), Citizen Alliance forTruth and Social Justice (CATAJ) and Mizoram Environment NGO Coordination Committee (MENCC), said after a workshop that while the Act may facilitate development projects, italso poses a serious threat to forests and tribal rights.
