Aizawl, Oct. 12 -- Mizoram has completed over 40 per cent of the biometric enrolment of Myanmar refugees taking shelter in the state amid the ongoing crisis across the border, officials said.
According to official data, out of 31,265 Myanmar nationals currently residing in Mizoram, biometric and biographic details of 12,621 refugees, accounting for 40.37 per cent, have been recorded so far.
The process, which began in late July, is being carried out under the Ministry of Home Affairs' (MHA) 'Foreigners Identification Portal & Biometric Enrolment (FIP&BE)' system.
District administrations across all 11 districts of the state are conducting the enrolment, which follows earlier profiling and temporary identity card issuance for refugees.
