Aizawl, June 3 -- Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday met Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta, who is currently visiting Mizoram, and pressed for the early sanction of funds for the yet-to-begin construction of the National Highway-6 stretch between Kawnpui and Sairang.
The Chief Minister said the Silchar-Aizawl four-lane highway is a vital link connecting Mizoram to mainland India, and the Kawnpui-Sairang portion remains incomplete, causing major difficulties during the monsoon.
"We faced serious disruption last monsoon due to the pending construction and are experiencing the same again this year," Lalduhoma told the Union Minister.
