Aizawl, Sept. 29 -- The Mizoram Buddhist Association (MBA) has issued a press release condemning the arrest of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk under the National Security Act (NSA).

In the statement, the MBA, headquartered in Kamalanagar under the Chakma Autonomous District Council, expressed its strong disapproval of the arrest, calling it arbitrary and unjust.

"Wangchuk has been leading a peaceful five-year-long movement advocating for Ladakh's statehood and seeking constitutional safeguards under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The movement, according to the MBA, represents the genuine aspirations of the people of Ladakh, as promised by the BJP during the 2020 Leh Hill Council elections," the MBA said in a statement.
