Aizawl, Aug. 28 -- The two-day monsoon sitting of the Mizoram state legislative assembly drew to a close today, with Speaker Lalbiakzama adjourning the House sine die after passing four pieces of legislation and adopting one official resolution.

Among the new laws endorsed was The Mizoram Prohibition of Beggary Bill, 2025, tabled by social welfare minister Lalrinpuii, which seeks to address the issue of begging through legal prohibition and welfare measures.

The House also passed The Mizoram Local Bodies Ombudsman Bill, 2025, introduced by urban development and poverty alleviation minister K. Sapdanga, aimed at setting up an independent authority to look into complaints relating to local bodies.
