Aizawl, March 4 -- Mizoram state legislative assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed the Mizoram State University Bill, 2025 which was introduced in the house by state Higher & Technical Education Minister Vanlalthlana.
Introducing the bill, Vanlalthlana said the establishment of Mizoram State University is compulsory under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as all the central universities will become research-intensive universities from 2035.
As the state has only a central university and a private university, setting up a state university is compulsory as per the provisions of the NEP 2020.
