Aizawl, March 3 -- ) The Mizoram Legislative Assembly on Monday unanimously passed The Mizoram Private Placement Agencies (Regulation) Bill, 2025, aiming to strengthen protections for Mizos working both within India and abroad.

The bill, introduced by Labour, Employment, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, replaces the existing 2015 legislation, which was deemed inadequate in addressing emerging challenges, including human trafficking and exploitation.

Explaining the need for a new law, Hmar stated that the 2015 Act primarily catered to domestic workers sent outside the state, whereas in recent years, skilled workers have increasingly found employment in various parts of India and overseas. "The e...
