Aizawl, April 20 -- In a bid to check the use of unregistered foreign vehicles, police in Mizoram's Lunglei district have dismounted the front tyres of 60 Chinese-made motorcycles used by refugees from Myanmar, who have taken shelter in various relief camps in the state's southern region.

The operation, carried out over two days beginning Friday, targeted Kenbo125 motorcycles - a popular Chinese model commonly smuggled across the border. The crackdown was conducted within Lunglei town and surrounding villages, district superintendent of police Jerome Lalmuankima said. here on Sunday.
