Aizawl, Nov. 21 -- R. Vanlalena, judge of the Fast Track Court of Kolasib district bordering Assam, on Thursday sentenced a 70-year-old resident of Vairengte town to 10-year imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 5,000 for raping his granddaughter.
In case the convict defaulted on paying the fine, he would have to undergo an additional one-month imprisonment.
Khupa was sent to the Kolasib district jail after pronouncement of the quantum of punishment by the judge.
Vanlalena had convicted H. Khupa under section 5(m) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 when he pronounced his judgment and order on Tuesday.
