Hyderabad, June 18 -- In a significant move to improve access to grievance redressal mechanisms, the Telangana government has introduced a new four-digit toll-free number - 1916 - for lodging complaints related to rural drinking water issues under Mission Bhagiratha.

Previously, citizens had to use an 11-digit toll-free number (1800-599-4007) to register complaints, which posed difficulties, especially for residents in rural areas.

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Seethakka, the department has now replaced the 11-digit number with a shorter and more user-friendly number.
