Shillong, Oct. 10 -- A 13-year-old girl was found killed at a remote village in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district, hours after she went missing, police said today.
The girl went missing yesterday morning after returning from school, and her body was recovered by the villagers from a forested area at 7:20 pm, police said.
According to villagers, the victim was lying in a pool of blood, with bleeding visible from her nose and a notebook still clutched in her hand.
"The dead body was removed to Civil Hospital, Nongpoh, last night after a thorough search of the place of occurrence by police officers along with Meghalaya Forensic Crime Scene Unit team. Evidence has been collected and seized," a police official said.
