Mirzapur, Dec. 10 -- The body of Abdul alias Saif, accused of attacking a young woman with a blade after allegedly pressuring her to convert her religion, was found floating in the Ganga River on Tuesday afternoon.
Fishermen spotted the body near Bariya Ghat around 4 p.m., after which police arrived and confirmed his identity.
Abdul had been missing for four days and was being actively searched by multiple police teams.
The attack took place on December 5 in the Katra Kotwali area's Ganeshganj market.
According to the victim, who lives in Ganeshganj, Abdul-a resident of Rambagh Quresh Nagar-had befriended her and later began pressuring her to convert. When she refused, he allegedly threatened her.
