Malegaon (Nashik), Aug. 4 -- The Minority Defense Committee has demanded the Maharashtra government challenge the July 31 NIA court verdict acquitting all accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case.

A memorandum submitted through the Additional Collector termed the insufficient evidence-based acquittals "a slap to justice" and has sought immediate filing of an appeal in Bombay High Court within eight days.

Committee conveners Asif Sheikh and Mustaqim Dignity questioned the outcome where six persons died and over 100 were injured in the September 29, 2008 Bhikku Chowk blast.
