Chennai, March 27 -- A minor fire broke out outside the Egmore Railway Station in the city.

No major damages were caused in the fire, except some cables were burnt.

A Railway release said a minor fire occurred at 1455 hours outside Egmore Railway Station, near Gandhi Irwin Road.

The fire service was immediately informed, and the fire was brought under control by 1510 hours.

The fire only affected the telecom cable, and this minor incident did not have any impact on train operations or information systems.

The cause of fire is under investigation. UNI GV 1940
