New Delhi, Aug. 28 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today said it has issued notices to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Roorkee in a case pertaining to the alleged sexual abuse of a minor boy by an Imam at a mosque in the Jhabreda area of the Uttarakhand's district on August 20, 2025.
In a statement issued here, it said that it has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report in the matter.
Reportedly, the victim had gone to study in the mosque.
"The Commission has observed that the contents of the news report, if true, raise serious issues of violation of the human rights of the victim. Therefore, it has issued notices to the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police, Roorkee, calling for a ...
