Kolkata, April 23 -- Union minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday said that the Indian film industry entered a new era after the Central government granted deemed university status for FTII Pune and SRFTI, Kolkata.
Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, known as FTTI and Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata achieved the new milestone as Deemed to be University status by the Union government's concerned ministry.
"A new era for India's film and media education begins as the Centre has granted Deemed to be University status to FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata," Majumdar said on his X handle.
