Chamba/Shimla, Oct. 16 -- The milk of human kindness prompted Himachal Pradesh Revenue and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi today to rescue schoolchildren who were left shivering in the biting cold outside a locked school in Chamba district after teachers failed to report for duty on time.
During his visit from Saur Panchayat to Mindhal yesterday, villagers stopped the minister's convoy and complained that the staff of Middle School Thandal often remained absent, forcing children to wait outside in harsh weather.
Acting immediately, the minister reached the school unannounced and found around 35 students standing in the open at 10:30 a.m. with no teacher present.
