Srinagar, Aug. 21 -- A low-intensity earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale hit of parts of Kashmir today, officials said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the border region of Kupwara district, officials said.

The tremor was recorded at 1:41 pm with its epicenter located at latitude 34.68degN and longitude 74.39degE in Kupwara. The quake occurred at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property due to the tremor.
