Chamba/Shimla, Dec. 6 -- A mild earthquake shook parts of the Chamba district late Friday night, causing momentary panic among residents in the seismically sensitive region.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremor, measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 11:36 pm at a depth of 10 kilometres. The epicentre was located about 85 kilometres north-northwest of Dharamshala.

Residents in several localities reported feeling three to four brief jolts, prompting some to rush outdoors. However, officials confirmed that no casualties or damage to property had been reported so far. Due to the low intensity of the shaking, the tremor went unnoticed by many.
