New Delhi, Dec. 26 -- Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met delegations of the Rabha, Mising, and Tiwa communities of Assam, and listened to their demands, assuring them that their genuine concerns will be addressed.

According to Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, Shah has given an assurance to appoint an interlocutor and initiate institutional dialogue for these communities.

The CM said that these communities, have long been seeking constitutional status for their respective autonomous councils.

Shah, taking to social media shared about the meeting, stating that the MHA will soon appoint a senior official to work towards an amicable and lasting solution for the communities.
