New Delhi, Feb. 4 -- The Centre on Wednesday said that while 'Police' and 'Public Order' are State subjects under the Constitution, it has significantly strengthened national coordination and technological capabilities to support States and union Territories in tackling cybercrime.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said States and UTs remain primarily responsible for the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of crimes, including cyber offences, through their Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).

The Central Government, however, supplements their efforts through advisories and financial assistance under various capacity-building schemes.
